The following chart shows average Botswana weather trends with information on avarage daily temperatures and average rainfall to give you an idea of what to expect on safari.
For the most part the climate in Botswana is semi arid with warm winters and hot summers. It lies in a summer rainfall area but rain typically falls at the end of the day, often with dramatic thunderstorms which last a hour or so and then they are over. All good lodges equip their game drive vehicles with rain ponchos.
Winter is dry and evening and early mornings can be pretty chilly, so pack accordingly. Most lodges will have blankets on board the game drive vehicles but we highly recommend you take a warm jacket, beanie and scarf. Winter day time temperatures are very pleasant so T shirts or a light shirt will suffice during the day.
