In the midst of the dramatic landscape of the Tuli Block, between the Limpopo River and imposing sandstone formations Tuli Safari Lodge has created a classic home from home safari lodge reminiscent of a bygone time. Their established team of friendly staff offer guests a personalised and relaxed stay where families are not just tolerated, but welcomed. Situated in peaceful grounds under the shade of ancient Nyala berry trees the lodge offers 8 quality suites. Three of the suites are slightly different in size, layout and position to the lodge but all the eight suites provide the same quality decor and facilities. These include en-suite bathrooms with bath and/or shower, indoor and outdoor sitting areas, air conditioning and tea/coffee making facilities. Activities: Game drives and guided walks are undertaken with experienced guides. When you’re not out in the bush, eating or sleeping, there’s plenty to do within the lodge: -

Spot the wildlife visiting the pretty waterhole at the back of the lodge from the safety and comfort of the hide -
Gaze at the panoramic views of the reserve overlooking a baobab-studded plain from the ‘star deck’ atop one of the sandstone kopjes -
Sit by the banks of the Limpopo to soak up the atmosphere and spot passing wildlife Spend time chatting with the resident conservationist, Tanja, about conservation and community projects or your particular areas of interest -

You can spend time in these with your guide as part of a morning or afternoon drive, or if you prefer you can spend some time on your own at the hides with just your binoculars, some drinks and snacks for company. There is also the option of sleeping out at the hides overnight. Horse rides –morning/afternoon or day rides with a well-established horseback safari operator based a few minutes from the lodge can be arranged for you. The tour includes a visit to the school, a wine-tasting experience with a difference (at the lala-palm ‘distillery’) and a chance to see traditional basket-weaving in action – as well as the opportunity to see some of the lodge’s community projects in action. After dinner drive – an optional extra if you are particularly keen to try and spot some nocturnal species. Visit to the confluence – a day trip to the confluence of the Shashe and Limpopo rivers, a unique and scenic spot where Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe meet. A picnic lunch is included. Mapungubwe – A visit to this World Heritage Site provides a fascinating insight into the powerful African kingdom that flourished in the area from around 1200 to 1270AD. The national park also boasts dramatic scenery and a rich variety of wildlife. This trip combines well with a visit to the Venetia Wild Dog Project, and if so would involve a night away from Tuli.
