Situated on the northern border of the Central Kalahari National Park within a private 20,000 private concession Haina Safari Lodge is an informally classic African lodge where guests can experience the arid vastness of the Kalahari in luxury tented accommodation.

Facilities and accommodation at Haina Safari Lodge
The main area of the lodge consists of a lounge, dining room, a swimming pool, sun deck and bar area decorated in wood and thatch. An adjacent waterhole where game comes to drink throughout the day allows guests the luxury of game viewing from the boma.

Accommodation for up to 20 guests is in en suite tented luxury safari tents or superior luxury safari tents. The luxury safari tents consist of a bedroom and en-suite bathroom with shower and toilet whilst the superior luxury tents have thatch roofs, large decks and full bathrooms (shower and bath). All units are furnished in subtle earth tones and dark woods in a contemporary African theme and reflect the bush area.
Tea and coffee (using a gas burner), safes, gowns, fragrant linen and made-in-Africa furnishings complete the comfortable decor. The lodge offers options of king sized beds with additional single beds in each tent to accommodate children, cotton percale linen with beautiful covers, duvets and mosquito nets.

The pristine bush and open savannah gives guests the opportunity of superb game viewing, especially big cats such as lion and leopard. A number of prides of lion roam the area plus there are several territorial leopards and cheetahs that also move through the conservancy. In addition wild dog sightings and brown and spotted hyena are excellent and sightings of the usual antelope species especially herds of Gemsbok, Blue Wildebeest and Eland Kudu are plentiful

Game Drives: Game Drives, in open vehicles, are led by an experienced guide and bushman tracker and are offered at sunrise and sunset. Evening sundowners are served with the sun setting over the Kalahari.
Duration and Departure times: The guests preferences are taken into consideration with normal duration of  2 hours. Departure times normally 8am and 4pm.

Night Game Drives:  Night drives depart after dinner and are an excellent way of seeing the nocturnal species such as genet, civet and African wild cat as well as the nocturnal activities of the big cats found in the area.

Bushmen Cultural experience: Haina Safari Lodge is located in close proximity to the ancient mecca of the Bushmen that inhabited the area about 6 000 years ago. Haina is home to a group of Bushmen, who are free to continue their nomadic life or join the experienced staff at Haina. They will share with you how they go about their daily lives, how they search for roots and plants to live on, how to make a fire and even how to do a rain dance.

Quad Bikes (optional extra): Quad biking is a novel way to explore the verdant countryside adjacent to Haina Safari Lodge and to view the game and bird life.

Full day excursion into Deception Valley, Kalahari National Park (optional extra) Early morning (± 06h00 depending on season) departure for the  Central Kalahari National Park. The driving time is approximately 2 hours to the park. A “Kalahari” brunch is enjoyed on arrival at Deception Pan. Deception Valley is an ancient fossil river, game viewing is especially good as there are open plains and it is common to see very large herds of antelope.
Guests will visit the camp site of Mark and Delia Owens, the authors of the book “Cry of the Kalahari”, and learn more about their journeys in this fascinating region of Africa, returning to Haina in the late afternoon in time to freshen up before the evening meal.

Getting there: The lodge can be reached by vehicle (4x4 only) and by light aircraft charter which we will include in a tour package for you as required. Travelling time from Maun by road is approximately 2 hours (170 kms) and 30 minutes by air. Self drivers please note:  be entirely self-sufficient as there are no shops or supplies once you leave Rakops/Maun/Ganzi.  This means carrying enough water for drinking and sufficient fuel to manage all your own game drives with a wide safety margin as fuel consumption in the sand will be higher than usual.
