Close to the confluence where the four countries of Botswana Zambia, Namibia and Zimbabwe meet, Garden Lodge lies on the banks of the Chobe River. This small lodge has eight bedrooms hosting just 24 guests (4 doubles and 4 family size), each with its own bathroom and private verandah that overlooks the Chobe River
The lounge and dining rooms are furnished in teak and wicker. The lodge has supported local industry where possible and all decor items come from Botswana or one of the surrounding countries. The upstairs bar, informally known as the Map Room, has a wonderful view of the Chobe River and is a great place to catch a quiet private moment. The lodge has a swimming pool – the perfect way to cool off after a mornings game viewing in Chobe.
Activities:
Accommodation at Garden Lodge can be bought with or without activities which serves the requirements of the self drive traveller who wants to explore Chobe in their own vehicle or the fly-in guest who wants needs activities provided.
The activities on offer revolve around game drives into Chobe and boat activities on the Chobe river. Chobe is a hot, dry region and for most of the year the wildlife is dependent on the river for water, making for truly spectacular game drives and boat cruises. During the months of no rainfall elephants are seen in their hundreds and buffalo in their thousands. Lions are an almost daily sighting, as are impala, sable antelope, giraffe, warthog and numerous other species. Traditionally, early morning game drives and late afternoon boat cruises are safari routine. The lodge has come to know from experience that a herd of bull elephants drinks in the middle of the day before swimming across the Chobe to feed in Namibia. If guests particularly want to see swimming elephants, they are happy to change the routine by taking the boat in the middle of the day and a game drive in the late evening.
Garden Lodge offers fishing tackle to guests who want to try their luck at catching one of the Zambezi’s famed Tiger Fish.
